We Believe In Giving Back

With Christmas just around the bend, we are honored to be serving our community and those around us by volunteering and giving back. Over the years, we have found that one of the most incredible gifts that we can give ourselves and our families is to invest our time and energy and finances into the community where we live. So every Christmas, we find a handful of ways to get involved. And here are some of our favorites!

Support a Child
Ministries like Compassion International and World Vision have been operating for years, and they run well oiled machines. We have sponsored children for years, and it is such an easy way to involve the family in feeding and educating a child. For as little as $38 a month, you can provide care for a child, in a developing nation or third world country, so that they might have better opportunities as they grow up. World Vision also provides a gift catalog where you can purchase food, live stock, medicine, and items that are necessary to help children and their families.

Feed the Homeless
There is nothing quite as satisfying or rewarding as feeding people. It is a universal love language, a language that everyone understands, and everyone requires. Feeding people is helping to provide for a most basic human need. Depending on where you are in the country will dictate where you can volunteer, but each day Meals on Wheels programs deliver nutrition and companionship nationwide. It is an easy way to spend a lunch break or a weekend afternoon. And it is one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have! “For many seniors, the trusted Meals on Wheels volunteer or staff member who shows up every day with a hot meal and a warm smile is the only person they see or speak with all day. This special delivery is the reason to get up in the morning, something to look forward to, and a reminder to take good care of themselves.”

Ring a Bell
If you have ever entered a grocery store from Thanksgiving to Christmas, you have probably encountered a Salvation Army Bell Ringer. Their red kettles and cheerful smiles always do us a world of good. And they are crucial to the good work that The Salvation Army does in our communities. The money raised through bell ringing goes to provide food, shelter, and services to those who are less fortunate. And they are always looking for more volunteers to help collect donations. Call your local Salvation Army branch to ask how you can help serve your community.

We work hard to be different, here at Magnolia Design. We believe that the fabric of our society is made up of the people in our communities, and we believe that it is up to us to be the change we want to see. So we are making sure to spend as much time as possible giving back, volunteering, and spreading love and joy around our community. We hope that you will do the same!
